Kilcowera Station


Kilcowera is an organically run Cattle Station 1000 kilometres west of Brisbane on the Dowling Track. The 80,000 ha of Mulga Rangelands which comprise Kilcowera and Zenonie is within the Bulloo and Paroo River Catchments. Visitors have the opportunity to view the many different ecosystems within our boundaries and also exclusive access to the western side of Lake Wyara, part of the RAMSAR listed Currawinya National Park.

Accommodation is provided in our modern and comfortable Shearers Quarters or try the spacious campground nearby. Bush camping is available at Cardenyabba Lagoon or Youlaingee Springs. Try our guided or self guided tours and visit Lake Wyara, Murderers Bore and Rustlers Roost. Kilcowera is open to visitors from 1st March through to 3Lst October.

Kilcowera is a Birdwatchers paradise with around 170 species and still counting. lf you like the wide open spaces, brilliant night skies and outback nature at its best come and see us at Kilcowera Station!

Species commonly seen: red kangaroo, eastern grey kangaroo, western grey kangaroo, wallaroo, many frogs, reptiles and beautiful outback birds

Rarer sightings: cinnamon quail-thrush, chestnut quail-thrush, Major Mitchell cockatoo, Bourke’s parrot, wedge-tailed eagle, crucifix frog.

The owners have a keen interest in flora, and many f the trees and shrubs have been identified with signage.
