Maria Island Walk (T, Tas)

The Maria Island Walk

Explore the abundant wildlife and deep-etched convict history of Maria Island and national park

On this multi award winning 4 days walk we will take you through tall Blue Gum forests, pristine beaches with light packs, on gentle tracks, staying at two wilderness camps with comfortable beds and a final night in the restored historic Bernacchi House. You should see wildlife such as Tasmanian kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and echidnas. The unique birdlife includes the endangered Forty Spotted Pardalote, Cape Barren geese (the world’s second rarest breed), eagles and numerous sea bird species. The crystal clear waters include protected marine reserves abundant with fish, dolphins, seals and migrating whales. Every evening’s reward is a candle light dinner with Tasmania’s finest food and wines.

The Maria Island Walk is Ecotourism Australia accredited and support the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service in their work of managing and protecting the spectacular coastlines of Tasmania.
