The district: what to do and see
Currumbin is within the southeast Queensland – northeast NSW region, which collectively is the third highest region of biodiversity anywhere in Australia (after the wet tropics of far north Queensland and the Stirling Ranges of WA).
We will have a lot to say shortly about this wonderful region, where you can choose from long sandy beaches (with high-rise tourism establishments or nothing but native vegetation lining their shores, or anything in between within easy reach – take your pick), the most extensive system of rainforest walking tracks in Australia beginning less than an hour away, plenty of other forest, mountain and wetland habitats, farmstays with wild koalas and kangaroos, islands large and small, whale-watching, eco cruises seeking dugongs and dolphins, snorkeling with turtles, kayaking with dolphins, geological excursions, wildlife parks (David Fleay Wildlife Park, the wildlife section of Dreamworld, Seaworld, as well as Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where the conference is held and which holds the greatest variety of native species in captivity in Queensland), a variety of ecotours to choose from (including WTA members) plus wining, dining, art galleries, nightclubs, theme parks … This is why we have decided on a Wed-Friday workshop, to give you a chance to stay on over the weekend (or to come Mon-Tues before the workshop, if weekends are your busiest time and you need to fly back on Friday evening.
Stay tuned for many more details
