Venue for Workshop: Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
2012 Workshop Venue:
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, set in lush subtropical greenery, holds the largest collection of Australian wildlife species in Queensland.
It boasts a new wildlife hospital (having run an older version for many years), opened in 2010, and now one of the largest wildlife hospitals in Australia. It takes in many casualties brought in by the public in addition to attending their own creatures as needed.
The Sanctuary is within a couple of minutes’ walk from one of the quieter beaches of the Gold Coast and within an hour’s drive of World Heritage mountain rainforests with a wonderful birdlife and extensive walking tracks.
Low-cost accommodation is within walking distance, and there are frequent buses calling right at the door to many other possibilities – more details soon.
See photos below.

Sign near the wildlife hospital, where visitors can quietly watch the vets at work through glass walls.

Currumbin has historically fed lorikeets every day, and continues this tradition under strict guidelines for the well-being of birds and people
