Bushlore-logoVISUAL TRACKING AND WILDLIFE OBSERVATION

Visual tracking is a skill set that has been utilised by humanity since the earliest days of our species’ evolution. It involves being able to track a human being or animal by the many signs and marks left on the ground and surroundings following passage through an area.

Bush Lore Australia’s courses and workshops present a range of subjects to develop your ability to observe, photograph and monitor wildlife in the Australian bush. This includes recognising tracks on the ground, as well as feeding sign, scats and other indications of the day-to-day life of native animals.

With a large proportion of our native animals being nocturnal, it can be difficult to see any trace of them, however with visual tracking and observation skills we can interpret indications of their presence and behaviour in an area. This is both rewarding and valuable information that helps us to appreciate our natives and learn more about them.
