Alan’s guests experience the rainforest and surrounding country side with informative commentary.
The Atherton Tablelands is that part of the Wet Tropics which is home to the rare and endemic wildlife. On his tours you can get up close and personal with rare and magical creatures: platypus, tree-kangaroo and Golden Bowerbird.
Nocturnal tours range from a short one near Yungaburra to see Lumholtz’s Tree-Kangaroo and a couple of possum species to longer evenings in winter to view gliders and rare endemic high altitude possums. On the short tour expect to see 2 – 4 arboreal mammals and 5 – 9 on the longer one of 2.5 hours.
Bird Tours can range from a half day introduction for new hobbyists to longer tours for twitchers completing their Australian list.
General natural history, specialist and educational tours are also catered for. As an ex-teacher Alan prides himself on his interpretive skills, bringing out the magic with accuracy to build understanding. Authoritative experts can be brought in to add to the experience for graduate and postgraduate tours.
